(DISCLAIMER: HOPEFULLY I DON GET SUED FOR WRITING ABOUT THIS SENSITIVE ISSUE)okay, as i first started to blog about this, i have several sources stating that The Olympics should be an apolitical event. but still, being the pro-freedom guy that i am, i believe in the self-determination of a nation and that u know, our eastern Big Brother will consider a separation with a differentiated small nation which doesn't acknowledge with them. Well, i also believe that the state sovereignty and the right to prevent separatist movements BUT, since Tibetans have a different identity from their counterparts, so maybe Big Brother will let them a go at independence. (((: (of course i have no say and China still has the final say) SO! as i was watching the news today, (the news was playing in the background), anws, theres this part abt the Olympics Torch Relay and ppl who are in favour of Tibet getting her independence and are trying to sabotage the Relay, and the news showed China Chinese ppl (i know this sounds stupid, but anws) saying that Olympics is a sporting event and political issues should not be raised through the Olympics. However, being the ancient Greek fan that i claim to be, I think that the Olympics was originated in ancient Greece where Greece wasn't united and the different states decided to come up with some Games in which athletes compete in and they represent their nations to like compete, thus, reducing the incidence of war, as these Games take the ppl's minds off wars and this is also an avenue to channel their aggression. So, since the origins of the Olympics were to of a political one, so why the change to make it apolitical. im sorry i just wanted to blog and hopefully freedom of expression allows these and well, i know this prose is full of flaws but yup, comment please! thanks. please let the world be a happier place! it's hard, for it's hard not to make someone happy at the expense of someone else. yup, we are all not very selfless. :D |
